I currently work in a hotel making 9.00 an hour. I love my job, except for my manager she is a phycotic old lady. I have been given tje opportuniy to become a car salesman. I am single I have an apartment paying 600.00 a month, And i am barely making it right now. Do you think it would be smart to take on this new position, I am nervous about commission and that I may not make enough to pay my bills I want to make more than what I am now.

Only if you are extremely good at lying.
The Big 3 are in big trouble. People are not buying cars. Even if they want to buy, buyers are not able to get credit to finance their cars. Cars are not selling. Who do you think will be buying from you?
You probably had better stay put for a while. The auto industry is in the tank and dealerships are closing left and right. Commission only jobs are tough even in good time right now you might be jumping right out of the frying pan and into the fire. Good luck.
This is probably the worst possible time to consider this career path! Between the troubles with the big 3 and consumer confidence and spending way down, you should probably consider other options. REMEMBER, this job is most likely 100% commission. NO SALES = NO PAYCHECK!!!
No. Car sales has a notoriously high turnover rate and it’s tough to make a living doing it. Most places pay you only commission (no base pay) and that’s a risky, risky thing to do right now. The auto makers are facing layoffs and people simply aren’t buying cars. Even when they are, the auto dealers are being forced to make better deals, which lowers the amount you make in commission. Stay put and find a second job to help make ends meet.
