I bought a car in Massachussetts private sale. I need to get it registered in Connecticut. In order to get it registered, I need to have the title, insurance, and bill of sale. In order to get the bill of sale and the title, I have to pay for the car. After I pay for the car, can I drive it to Connecticut to get it registered as long as I keep the title and bill of sale in my car? The only other alternative is to drive to Mass, pick up the title and the bill of sale, drive back to Connecticut, get it registered, then drive back to Mass to pick up the car again. This seems like a waste of time, but on the other hand I don’t want to get in trouble for driving an unregistered car – even if it is only for a couple of hours. I cannot find information on how to do this legally! Please help!

we want to sell our car in new york city as one private entity to another private individual. the NYS DMV website states that the seller must remove the plates from the vehicle before handing the car over to the new buyer, in order to return the plates to the DMV. we will be signing the title over to the new buyer, but still – how does the new buyer drive away legally without any plates on the car?

We have a price set. I want to make sure that I do everything I need to, because he is permanently moving outside the US, so if something is forgotten or neglected, it could be impossible to recify it.

I assume that I need to write out a bill of sale for each of us, saying this car was purchased on this date for x amount of dollars.
What else is needed? Thanks so much for answering
