It means that someone probably put a deposit down on the car so the dealership would hold it for them for a few days.
It means someone wants to buy that car, but the sale isn’t final yet. Maybe a credit check, or whatever…
Just like a house sale, it means a buyer has agreed to buy it and maybe put down a deposit but has yet to sign the final papers. You can also make a backup offer in the event the original offer is withdrawn the sale pending will transfer to you.
